I’ve seen this in several editorial spreads for fall and I really love the massive, barbaric look of this chain. The $700 price – not so much. But still, it’s fun to look!

Alan Anderson’s fabulous jewels are going to be featured at Holt Renfrew this fall. I have been a big fan of Alan’s for years and watched him slowly become better and better known, which he really deserves. For now, he is available only on Bloor St. in Toronto but as always, you can also find his pieces, including the green cuff bracelet below (which cleverly pulls apart to open on the side of the design, instead of the back) on my web site, www.intotemptation.com

Chunky is in…

For fall – HUGE necklaces, massive cuffs, lots of bling and eye candy. This trend started in the spring (Lanvin did some amazing stacked bracelets and massive necklaces – definitely not subtle!) and the trend is creeping towards fall.

Fall previews are already hitting the magazines, and my eye was caught by this cuff for Vera Wang by Philip Crangi:

Cuff with faceted stones, Philip Crangi..

Reminds me of a piece on my site by Alan Anderson, which actually has the identical construction and front opening:

Don’t be afraid of bold jewelry – just remember that scale is important. One large piece should be the focal point. This is one time when more is enough!

Something vintage, something new…

Alan Anderson bracelets…These jewels are big, dramatic, a combination of vintage stones and contemporary flair. Designer Alan Anderson, based in Toronto, gets his inspiration from royalty (especially the Duchess of Windsor), masters of haute couture, and the stones themselves. Interested in design since he was child, Alan recently left his career in retail display to follow his dream – working full-time at his own custom jewelry business.

Due to the limited availability of vintage stones and the settings you need to work with them, Alan’s pieces tend to be one of a kind. They are not for the faint of heart – but they do make an impact. Given the increasing scarcity of quality vintage pieces, and their rising prices, investing in contemporary design with a vintage flair just makes good sense. And good style.
