The organization Help Us Adopt has created a line of jewelry with semi-precious stones, whose proceeds go to support their efforts to support adoptive parents.

Here is their description of their stacking bracelets (they also offer necklaces and another bracelet design): Crafted out of chocolate brown smoky quartz and accented with a gold leaf symbolizing a family tree, this bracelet signifies love, hope and the dream of parenthood through adoption. This signature bracelet, as seen in Town & Country, STAR, Bergdorf Goodman, Redbook, Good Housekeeping and Intermix was co-designed by two adoptive mothers and is dedicated to birthparents everywhere for their courage and conviction. Lisa Jenks has had a long and varied career, making jewellery, venturing into leather goods at one point, and now also including watches in her collection.

This sterling silver Riptide bracelet reminds me of the work of Mexican master silversmith Antonio Pineda, who also favoured similar shapes. Available form Jenks’s site for USD $945 and made to order, so allow time for delivery.

Based in London, England Alan Vallis, offers these whimiscal marine pendants, which he describes this way: These pendants form a snapshots of marine life within a silver frame. The contained motifs are 18ct gold and the tops take the form of a symbolic wave or a “Deco” style element. The pendants can be suspended on silver snake chain, rope chain or multi-stranded wire collars in either silver or colour coated steel wire. Further possible options could be small beads, silk ribbon or leather braid.

Paul Derrickson is a Southern California jeweller who learned his trade the old-fashioned way – by apprenticing with a bench jeweller and working his way up. He designs and creates his own pieces and accepts custom work, including bridal pieces, necklaces, earrings and rings. There are a lot of photos and design sketches on his site that provide a good view of his aesthetic.
