Jewel of the day Shourouk for Swarovski

Swarovski has had some very exciting collaborations in recent years, mostly as part of their Atelier line. This fall, they are presenting a collection by Shourouk, and the pieces are really stunning.

Shourouk typically works with Swarovski crystal in her own line, with findings of PVC, metal and rope/fibers. She brings the same sensibility to this collection and the prices in some cases are less than those for her own line.

These earrings are for pierced ears (there is a stunning pair with emerald crystals); the line also features necklaces, bracelets and other items.

Jewel of the day: Swarovski Slake black microfiber bracelet

I was at the Fall/Winter 2013 Swarovski preview earlier this week (more about that tomorrow and in future posts) and as I was being greeted by the Swarovski rep, I immediately noticed this bracelet on her arm. I was delighted to hear that it is a current piece, so that I wouldn’t have to wait until August or September to get one.

I think this just may be the perfect bracelet. It’s made of Swarovski crystals on a microfiber band that has been cut into strands, wraps twice around the wrist, and snaps closed. It doesn’t snag on anything, is super comfortable to wear (and would be ideal to travel with), and for someone who is at a computer a good portion of the day, it doesn’t clang on the desk top as so many other bracelets are apt to do.

As the strands lie on the arm, it gives the appearance of being a much more substantial piece. And of course, it weights next to nothing. I love this and will probably get it in other colours. The microfiber pieces come braided and with square crystals as well, and for this fall, with mixed sizes and shapes of crystals.

The price is also a selling feature – it  retails for Cdn $80. Below is a stock Swarovski photo, as well as a photo of the piece on my wrist.

Jewel of the day: Leviev Fancy Intense Pink Pear Shaped Diamond Earrings

Yep, these Leviev earrings are pretty mouthwatering.

The pear shaped pinks weigh a total of 10.90 carats, and are accented by two square (though they look like Asscher cuts to me) white diamonds totalling 4.04 carats. And these are accented with pave of white and pink stones adding a further carat weight of .90 in rose gold and platinum.

Yummy.

Jewel of the day: Stephen Dweck Three Strand Rock Crystal necklace

This necklace has a rich look that can dress up an outfit as well as it could make it look boho chic.

By Stephen Dweck, it is brass and rock crystal, and can be adjusted between 18 and 21 inches with a hook clasp. It sells for USD $495 at Neiman Marcus.

Jewel of the day: Suzanne Felsen pyrite ring

There is nothing like a rock.

This ring by Suzanne Felsen is set with an 11.68 rose cut pyrite, surrounded by cabochon cut blue topaz weighing a total of 2.2 carats, set in 18k white gold. The ring is available for USD $2,575 on her website.

The ring is part of Felsen’s fine jewellery collection, which features innovative and colourful stone pairings and cuts.

Jewel of the day: Kevia diamond pave bangle bracelet

I love the wavy design of this pave diamond bracelet, set with 7.88 carats of stones. Made by Kevia, it sells for USD $6,433.

If you are like me (and probably many others), before shelling out that kind of money, you may want to have more information about the piece, including the diameter (so you can be sure it will fit over your hand), weight, and materials. I am assuming it is yellow gold, but neither that nor the karat weight are indicated. Should you be inclined to purchase, questions can be asked here.

Jewel of the day: Wanderluster New York Live Forever earrings

Edgy yet pretty, and easy on the wallet. That’s a decent combo. These Live Forever earrings by Wanderluster New York are made of resin and brass, with three resin rounds at the top, and custom crafted resin drop in pale green.

Wanderluster is designed by Rammy Lee Park and claims as its inspiration the modern nomad. (But really, is anyone ever truly wandering alone with Instagram, Pinterest, and the rest of the social media horde available at the tap of a screen?)

These earrings are available for USD $65 as part of the line’s Fall/Winter 2012 Amargosa collection.

Jewel of the day: Thomas Sabo Special Addition pendant

The spring/summer 2013 Thomas Sabo collection is heavy on pendants, and lots of them. The ad campaign and collection shows a single long chain with one two or even three pendants on it, mixing metals and colours. Turquoise figures prominently, and that always makes me think of warm weather and sun. The tanned models in linen dresses further the summer theme. It’s a chilly 40 degrees here today and all I can say is, “Bring it.”

This pendant is gold plated sterling silver set with cubic zirconia and sells for Cdn $384.

Jewel of the day: Susan Rockefeller Swell Shell ring

Susan Rockefeller is inspired by and protective of the seas. Her designs draw on nautical motifs, as with this Swell Shell ring, and she is committed to charitable efforts supporting waterways and the earth in general.

This ring is made of gold plated sterling silver set with a tiny (.01 carat) diamond on the shank. The design was cast from a shell found on the beach of Long Island, New York.

Available from the designer for USD $295.

Jewel of the day: Grace Lee Designs Bezel bracelet

Simple and sweet, this bracelet is a whisper of ornamentation. Made by Los Angeles-based Grace Lee Designs, it is 14k gold (available in yellow, white or rose) and can be bezel set with either a white or black diamond, or a sapphire. Grace Lee’s other designs are equally spare, but still striking in their simplicity.

It is available from the designer for USD $485.
