One of the things I’ve always loved about the November and December fashion magazine issues is the proliferation of wildly extravagant jewellery and watches. In particular, the jewelled watches are so out of reach, and speak of a lifestyle so decadently wealthy, that you can’t help but want to buy into the fantasy, even if it’s only momentarily.
Piaget has long had watches bedecked with diamonds and using unusual semi-precious stones for the faces. This Limelight Secret watch combines both, with diamonds and mother of pearl. The company notes: Limelight secret watch inspiration leaves, 54 mm. Cases in 18K white gold set with 2 marquise-cut diamonds (approx. 3.5 ct), 33 pear-cut diamonds (approx. 16.1 ct), 32 baguette-cut diamonds (approx. 1.9 ct) and 122 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 6.5 ct). Mother-of-pearl dials set with 76 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 0.4 ct). Bracelet in 18K white gold set with 109 pear-cut diamonds (31.7 ct), 34 baguette-cut diamonds (approx. 2.3 ct) and 98 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 13.8 ct). Two Piaget 56P quartz movements.”
I love the double watch faces – presumably, one of the place you are and the other for the place you’d rather be.
While I am sure true watch connoisseur would turn up their noses at a quartz movement, I’d be happy to find this in my Christmas stocking. And on my wrist.
