Jewel of the day: Anndra Neen Round Cage Ring

Anndra Neen’s jewelry is generally somewhat more expensive than this costume jewelry ring. It’s a cool design, with its cage motif. My only quibble with this is that it’s described as “alpaca silver” when this actually contains no silver at all. It’s an alloy of opper, zinc and nickel and sometimes iron. It’s also known as nickel silver … but … not sterling silver. This piece is also made with brass in Mexico City.

It sells for USD $150.

Jewel of the day: Jade Jagger Never Ending Sapphire Ring

Jade Jagger (yes, daughter of you know who) has been designing jewellery for several years now. She was the former creative director for Garrard, and continues to sell her own pieces through her own site and others.

This 18k yellow gold ring, highlighted by Harper’s Bazaar, is available from Shop Latitude. Made to order, it ships in 6-7 weeks and costs USD $$2,750.

Jewel of the day: David Yurman Chatelaine Earrings

If I didn’t know these were by David Yurman, I wouldn’t have guessed it. Better known for cable sterling silver jewelry, these earrings are made with 18-karat yellow gold set with pavé diamonds totalling 0.32 carat. They are also available in sterling silver and blackened sterling.

These sell for USD $2,250.

Jewel of the day: Phil Loretto Twilight Sky at Night Cuff Bracelet

Native American jewellery is an area where I am a total ignoramus. Having said that, I like the stones, the way they are used, and the designs used by the various nations.

This bracelet is sterling silver with an mosaic inlaid Mediterranean coral and lapis with an offset black Brazilian opal dot representing Jupiter. It was made by Jemez designer Phil Loretto, and sells for USD $650 from Garlands Jewelry.

Jewel of the day: Regina B Goddess Necklace

This over the top necklace is part of the bridal collection offered by Regina B. It’s definitely a wow piece, made with Swarovski crystals set in rhodium metal, and featuring six rows of rhinestone chains.

Not for the faint of heart … or the bride who is wearing a very ornate dress. I think the overkill of total bling annihilation and bridal excess could cancel each other out.

This sells for USD $1,55o.

Jewel of the day: Aesa Jewelry Large Studs with Diamond

I love the meta nature of this design: large stud earrings made of 14k gold in the shape of Herkimer diamonds … with a .01 carat diamond set in one of them.

By Aesa Jewelry, these are part of their Machine de Terre collection and sell for USD $475. As they are handmade, each pair will differ slightly.

Jewel of the day: Strawberry Wood Collar of Skies Blue Topaz Necklace

Strawberry Wood, billing itself as a bespoke jeweller, offers a suite of pieces under the name Collar of Skies: this blue topaz necklace, and matching earrings.

The site notes, “Over four hundred and fifty carats of blue topaz in white gold settings with a silver chain comprise this beautiful Collar of Skies necklet. White gold/blue topaz ear-rings complete this big bold statement suite of jewellery.”

There is no noted price. Strawberry Wood is in the UK and can be contacted here.

Jewel of the day: J. Crew Contoured Spike Cuff Bracelet

It’s always nice to find something relatively inexpensive that looks more expensive than it is. This bracelet by J. Crew has a great look for summer – clean lines, elegant form, and yours for USD $78. Not much info on materials, other than to say it’s gold plated and I would imagine, either cold painted or enamelled white.

Jewel of the day: Roberto Coin Woven Rose Gold Hoop Earrings

A pair of gold earrings should be in every woman’s jewelry box. Hoops are classic, elegant and just plain wearable and the woven 18k rose gold in this pair by Roberto Coin gives them a little something special.

They are available from Ross-Simons for USD $780.

Jewel of the day: Kaizen Antiques Baroque Pearl and Diamond Ring

Perfect pearls are beautiful, but baroque pearls have their own oddly shaped beauty.

This circa 1920 ring is offered by Kaizen Antiques. They note, “This is a beautiful and unusual ring with a baroque pearl in the centre and a total of 14 diamonds set into detailed shoulders.  The ring is Art Deco, circa 1920 and in finger size I 3/4.”

I’m not sure I would personally ascribe anything from 1920 to the Art Deco period, but it’s a beautiful piece nonetheless. It sells for £1,200.
