Jewel of the day: Victor-John Villanueva 3PTPOP Clubbing Necklace

These outsized/oversized necklaces made with fused acrylic beads, by Victor-John Villanueva, are also being used as (very large) bag charms, hung over the handles of a tote. Under the name 3PTPOP, Villanueva offers some iconic faces and brands altered with his own unique twist.

This piece is very large, at 8 x 12 x 2 inches, but if Grace Jones is your girl, you need to show it, right? (Other faces he has rendered into an accessory are Anna Wintour, Andre Leon Talley and Karl Lagerfeld.)

This sells for USD$350.

Jewel of the day: Polly Wales Rainbow Cosmos Necklace

I am quite taken with Polly Wales’s designs and casting method, and if anyone near me stocked her pieces, particularly her rings, I would be in a great deal of trouble. So I admire from afar.

This is a bright and fun piece set with a variety of coloured sapphires totalling 1.5 carats in 18k yellow gold. It sells for £3170 from Wales’s site.

Jewel of the day: Shavarsh K. Gold Twig Necklace

I was browsing the catalog for the upcoming (December 9) Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction, looking for pieces by Queen Nazli of Egypt and the Duchess of Windsor, and this caught my eye. I don’t know who the jeweller is and an online search did not turn up any info. But this is a really striking piece.

The catalog notes, “18 Karat Gold Necklace. The bib-style necklace composed of textured gold branch-link links, gross weight approximately 184 dwts, internal circumference 12¼ inches, signed Shavarsh K.”

The pre-sale estimate is USD$8,000-12,000.

Jewel of the day: ABS by Allen Schwartz Some Like It Hot Necklace

Tis almost the season for holiday parties and gatherings and though I don’t typically need a reason to glitz it up, this time of year certainly offers them in abundance.

This bold red crystal necklace by ABS by Allen Schwartz is festive without being too Christmassy. It sells for USD$150 from Saks Fifth Avenue. The Some Like It Hot collection has matching earrings and bracelets and varying crystal colours. Consider yourself absolved from needing a reindeer sweater to mark the season.
