Jewel of the day: Aurelie Bidermann Gunmetal Lace Cuff

Available from, this large bracelet by Aurelie Bidermann looks more delicate because of the “lace” pattern in the metal.

There is no info about the material used or the dimensions (because why would you want to know those things, right?), but Bidermann does costume jewellery, so I will assume it’s silver plated base metal. This sells for USD$845.

Jewel of the day: DeBeers Swan Lake Earrings

Autocorrect thoughtfully “corrected” swan to swank, which is not exactly inappropriate. These earrings by DeBeers are set with pear, cushion, rondelle and baguette shaped diamonds totalling 3.43 carats. Part of their high jewellery collection, you must arrange a showing find out the price. There are matching pieces in this collection (necklaces and bracelets) should you need the full swank/swan suite.

If you are still looking for that special New Year’s Eve bauble, this could be it. From Hays Worthington, it’s a vintage necklace with natural pearls, and a large jadeite pendant/drop, accented with diamonds and crystal. Price available upon request.

Jewel of the day: Sydney Evan Celestial Charm Necklace

After the year that’s been, I think everyone is hoping for a fresh new 2017. Charms and talismans … I’ll take ’em. This necklace by Sydney Evan is a star and planet/Saturn, set with sapphires and diamonds in 14k yellow gold on a ball chain. It sells for USD$1,730.

Jewel of the day: Bling Jewelry Present Time Pin

Christmas jewellery used to be a big thing – pins mostly, in winter and Christmas motifs. You can still find them and they are still fun to see and to wear. Bling Jewelry has a range of designs and this little Christmas tree would be the perfect thing for today. It’s 2 x 1 inch and a plated metal set with festive crystals. This sells for a sale price of USD$17.99.

Jewel of the day: Alhambra Antiques Gilt Brass and Glass Tiara

I am not sure where this was made (thinking Czech or Chinese) or for what purpose, but it’s pretty fantastic. Offered by Alhambra Antiques, it is described as, “19th century gilt brass repose and trembles tiara with red, green and clear facet cut glass jewels. Very intricate work. Center rosette attached to spring for trembleuse effect. One stone missing from rosette, 3 small stones missing from surrounding area. Width 6″, height 4″.”

This sells for USD$925, so being king (or queen) of your own castle is within reach.

Jewel of the day: Satya Two Blooms Carded Gold Lotus Necklace

As we approach the end of 2016 (which will probably come as a welcome relief to many of us, given the upheaval this year has seen) what better time to ponder how to make a fresh start? The new year is traditionally a time for resolve and resolutions so it’s cool to have a piece of jewellery as a daily reminder.

This double lotus leaf pendant is, according to seller Satya Jewelry, “Your mantra : I welcome this new beginning and all the opportunity it brings. I will live my truth; I will realize my full potential. Two lotus flower pendants hang side by side on this dotted chain. The lotus rises from the mud each morning, ready to face the day’s challenges. For this reason, it is a symbol of new beginnings and potential. Lotus – new beginnings, infinite potential. 18kt gold plated over brass. 18″ in length. Pendant- .8″”

This sells for USD$119.

Jewel of the day: By Boe Triplet Nail Ring

As someone who is just happy to have found warm gloves I can use with a touchscreen (hey, Pokemon Go is important, even when it’s -20!) I can’t imagine keeping a cute little fingertip ring like this actually ON my fingertip. But for those of you in warmer climes who feel your hands can stand more decoration, this could be for you.

Made by label By Boe, this Triplet Nail Ring is meant to sit on the fingertip. It’s made of 14kt gold filled metal and available in mini (size 1.5)  or small (size 2.5). As this doesn’t correspond to an established ring sizing system, it begs the question … does my fingertip look fat in this?

Available for USD$100.

Jewel of the day: Jes MaHarry Global Harmony Bracelet

Designer Jes MaHarry offers this multi-gem bracelet set in oxidized sterling silver. It features rainbow moonstone, pink sapphire, turquoise, aquamarine, lapis, lilac quartz, aquamarine and chrysoprase, and measures 7-1/2 to 9 inches long.

It’s available from Sundance for USD$1,450.

Jewel of the day: Vintage Gold and Diamond Holly Brooch

Even though holly is most closely associated with Christmas, this pretty 1960s brooch would look good on a lapel (or skirt, or hat) year round. Offered by Ruby Lane seller Josephine’s Fine Jewelry with a Past, the seller notes, “The details are exquisitely crafted with a textured Florentine finish on the leaves which are neatly edged with shiny polished gold. The seven 1.5 mm single cut diamonds sparkle down the white gold veins with added beaded details.

This is not a small brooch, measuring at 2 1/4″ by 1 1/4″ and it weighs 14.9 grams or 9.5 pennyweights. It is marked 750 and 88A, which I believe is Italian in origin.”

This sells for USD$895.
