Jewel of the day: Manya & Roumen Nicodemus the Chameleon Ring

If you’re bored with the understated skinny stacking ring trend, here’s something that will bring something a bit different to your jewellery box.

By Manya & Roumen, it’s a chameleon cast in sterling silver (with some gold plated accents)it’s set with rhodolite garnets, paraiba tourmaline and diamonds.

This is available from Roseark and sells for USD$3,900.

Jewel of the day: Diamond and Ruby Platinum Necklace Tiara

Tiaras were often mounted on frames so that they could be disassembled and worn as a necklace or clips for less formal occasions. This piece is for sale on Etsy by seller My Vintage Diamond Ring. The shop owner notes, “Diamond Tiara/Collar (51carats), Antique- Ruby, natural pearl tiara and collar in Platinum~A piece of history from another era! It looks equally good as a Tiara or Collar. It is in the Art Nouveau style of the day, 1900 to 1910. Perhaps you have an appointment with the Queen and don’t know what to wear? Perhaps you live in Dallas and go to big charity events-this will blow the other women out of their frosted tips! The tiara sports a 4.08ct European Cut J-K color and SI1 to 2 clarity. There are two European cut pear shapes weighing .75ct apiece, 1.50cts as a pair. All together, including the 4.08ct and the 1.50cts pear shapes, the diamond total is a whopping 50.91cts. There are 84 Natural Pearls, see GIA Report. The Tiara weighs 238 grams of Platinum or 8.41 oz. The very front of the Tiara measures 3 1/2 inches, the sides measure 2 1/4 inches. It comes with a gold frame to sit upon which is not pictured. ”

This sells for USD$110,000.

Jewel of the day: Cartier Les Oiseaux Libérés Pendant

Part of Cartier’s Flora and Fauna collection, the Oiseaux Libérés pendant is a lively parrot (I think) pave set with diamonds.

Cartier notes, “A symbol of optimism and liveliness, this characterful bird, paved with diamonds, opens the door of its golden cage to take flight into the open skies. A bird enamoured of freedom, designed in 1942 and now reinterpreted to give life to a precious brooch in vibrant colors.

Les Oiseaux Libérés necklace, 18K pink gold, emeralds, gray mother-of pearl, set with 244 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 2.07 carats.”

This piece sells for CDN$67,500.

Jewel of the day: J. Crew Tortoise Disc Necklace

A few years back, J. Crew really drove the statement necklace craze with some cool, affordable options. Though they still have some great pieces, they’ve settled back into the pack with pieces that follow rather than set trends. This disc necklace is a pretty way to dress up a look without overwhelming it with too much embellishment. Made with acetate discs strung along a brass chain, it’s a light and effortless look for the coming warmer weather.

This sells for USD$32.50.

Jewel of the day: Retro Diamond Rose Gold Detachable Double Clip Bangle Bracelet

Retro pieces don’t get the love they deserve. Coming after the sleek  white gold and platinum lines Art Deco, the somewhat chunkier rose gold Retro pieces led the way to what can be rather forgettable 1950s jewellery. But Retro pieces have undeniable charm.

This 18k rose gold, diamond set bracelet has the added advantage of detachable dress clips (a personal fave of mine). It also has some of the look of late Art Deco married to the emerging 40s look.

1st Dibs seller Hartz & Co. is selling this for USD$14,800.

Jewel of the day: Seaman Schepps Amethyst and Carved Chalcedony Ring

Seaman Schepps had among its clients some rather well known names, perhaps foremost among them Wallis, The Duchess of Windsor. Among her legendary jewel collection were several pieces by this company (with a pair of their ear clips left to Princess Michael of Kent).

This ring is offered by Christies right now, through their online auction portal. The catalogue describes it as, “Property of an important private collector. Designed as a carved chalcedony ring set with an oval shaped amethyst within a yellow gold bezel

Stones: One carved chalcedony, One rectangular shaped amethyst
Size/Dimensions: US ring size 6.5, 19.5 mm at widest point
Signature: Seaman Schepps

Gross Weight: 13.8 grams

This Lot ships from New York or is available for collection at Christie’s New York.”

Auction estimate is USD$1000-2000; current bid as of this writing was $1,100.

Jewel of the day: Paloma Picasso Olive Leaf Diamond Earrings

Paloma Picasso’s designs for Tiffany have certainly evolved beyond her early (and very popular ) xo pieces. These hoop earrings are part of an olive leaf inspired collection.

Diamonds weighing .57 carats are set into 18k white gold. The hoops are open, and the bottom is placed delicately just below the base of the ear lobe, rather than the more traditional closed or inside outside design.

These sell for USD$5,200.

Jewel of the day: Harmony Evening Star Necklace

Designed as a gift for an expectant mother, this is a pretty pendant that can be an out of the ordinary baby gift.

Made by Harmony, their Evening Star necklace can be customized with a different coloured ball in the locket. The company notes, “Our “Evening Star” Necklace features an attractive star design that symbolizes the beauty and light that your new baby will bring into this world. Because your life will never be brighter once your new miracle arrives; it will fill you with joy and hope for the future ahead. This necklace is abundantly plated in sterling silver and is nickle and lead free.”

This is currently on sale for USD$34.99

Jewel of the day: 1-100 Medallion Stick Earrings

These rough hewn sterling silver earrings are by 1-100, a collaboration between Graham Tabor and Miguel Villalobos. They are described as handcrafted sterling silver earrings with hanging rectangular medallion and stick pendants with a drop of approximately 1.75 inches.

These sell for USD$350.

Jewel of the day: Sabrina Dehoff Cuff Same Same But Different

Berlin-based designer Sabrina Dehoff does sleek, minimalist pieces. She describes this cuff bracelet this way: “This is a very special bracelet to us! The two half acrylic stones in khaki and pink are more than an eye-catcher. The hidden, elaborated closure is worked in to keep the design simple and clean. A cool and colorful piece two halves same same, but different! The style and all its elements are designed and developed by ©Sabrina Dehoff and in our studio in Berlin. All styles are only available in limited edition.”

The bracelet is made with gold plated brass and acrylic, and comes in one size. It sells for €309.
