Jewel of the day: Hermes Osmose Ring

Hermes typically plays off motifs found on its bags and equestrian gear – the chaine d’ancre loop, the turnlock for its Kelly and Birkin, and the pyramid shaped stud from its Collier de Chien bracelets (which itself was taken from the spiky collars used to protect the throats of guard dogs).

The Osmose ring shown here once again takes its inspiration from the chaine d’ancre. Hermes explains, “This story began in 1938, when Robert Dumas, a member of the Hermès family, decided to take inspiration from a ship anchor chain to design a bracelet. Thus the chaîne d’ancre was born: a naturally balanced jewel with a sporty yet chic allure. The links of the chain – polished, circular-grained or twisted – play on shapes and volumes to bring forth a multitude of necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets.”

This is the larger size of this ring, and sells for CA$775.
