Jewel of the day: Valentine Rouge Principessa Navy Choker

I have become a big fan of Valentine Rouge and I’m sure I’ll be acquiring more pieces than I currently have in the future. This is part of their Renaissance collection, and this choker comes in either the blue shown, or with a red stone.

They note, “The designer revives the elegance and grace of Italy’s golden Renaissance and Baroque eras into a modern feminine vibe. Each jewelry piece is rendered from original molds and stampings from eras past, electroplated with 18k gold; and meticulously hand set with precious stones; Austrian Crystal; fresh water pearls; and Venetian glass, to create an exquisite collection of modern heirloom jewelry. 18K gold vermeil, fresh water pearls 4mm diameter, navy quartz. 15 inches length plus 2 inch ext chain, hypo-allergenic.”

This sells for CAD$180.

Jewel of the day: Stargaze Jewelry Pia Drop Lariat

Chokers were the thing all year so this is a more versatile piece that nods to the high on the neck look while offering more visual interest.

Made by Stargaze Jewelry, this is a dainty beaded piece with a spiked end. It is measures 12″ + 3″ extender; the drop measures 5″.

This sells for USD$28.99

Jewel of the day: Blossom Box Princess Choker Necklace

If you’re going to succumb to the choker trend, you may as well do it with some regal intent. This piece by Indian designer Blossom Box has a bit of a Mughal twist to its design: it’s gold plated with faux pearls and crystals, and is a one size fits all piece with an adjustable chain.

This sells for USD$150.

Jewel of the day: Vjera Vilicnik Red Velvet Roses Choker

Vjera Vilicnik was trained in the art of haute couture embroiders at the Ecole Lesage. This pretty choker, a velvet ribbon with three silk chiffon handmade flowers, is a simple but effective take on the choker trend and sells for a very reasonable £30.

Jewel of the day: Thacker New York Loveknot Choker

I’m all for ornate, but sometimes simple speaks volumes. This choker by Thacker New York is a collaboration with another jeweller, Flaca Jewelry. Made of brass, it’s “inspired by the beauty of love and promises kept.”

This sells for USD$158, and there are other rings and a bracelet in the same collection.

Jewel of the day: Love, Lisa Barbed Wire Choker

Chokers show no sign of flattening out as a trend, and this one has a tiny twist: a barbed wire design. By Love, Lisa, it is 6″ with a gunmetal lobster clasp closure set with black stones. The charm shown must be purchased separately (but it does look very cool with this piece). The necklace alone sells for USD$74.

Jewel of the day: Amarillo Jewelry Star Sisters Choker Necklace

So chokers are definitely in, but so is layering and stacking a bunch of delicate choker length necklaces to be worn at the same time. The Star Sisters piece is shown in this photo second down from the top (and all the necklaces are sold separately). If tasteful imagery isn’t your thing, they also sell a choker that spells out fuck. Because … you never know when you need to let people know that, all the time.

This is available in either sterling silver, or gold plated sterling. It sells for USD$188.

Jewel of the day: Stargaze Jewelry Opal Lili Choker Necklace

I am a sucker for opals and this is a pretty way to have or gift one at a good price. By Stargaze Jewelry, it’s available in either a gold or silver plated (over brass) 14 inch chain with a two inch extender. The size of the opal is not noted.

This sells for USD$39 and at the time of this writing, they were having a 40% off sale (which may not apply by the time this is posted).

Jewel of the day: Kathy Rose Rattlesnake Choker

I’m a fan of baguette cut stones and here they are used to good effect in a collar by Kathy Rose, outlining the “spine” of a rattlesnake in sterling silver and black diamonds.

Available exclusively at LA’s Roseark, this sells for USD$26,000.

Jewel of the day: Chan Luu Metallic Grey Floral Lace Choker

If I was going to wear a choker (which is probably unlikely as like the late Nora Ephron, I’ve come to realize I also feel bad about my neck ), it would probably be something like this one. By Chan Luu, it’s a strip of metallic floral lace embellished with Swarovski crystals. It measures 11 5/8″ – 14 1/4″ in length and is approximately 1 1/4″ wide. This sells for USD$115.
