Jewel of the day: Bijoux Heart Leaf + Wheat Sheaf Brooch

Bijoux Heart is a British brand that has looked to the past for inspiration but given their costume jewelry pieces a modern feel. Their work reminds me a lot of Miriam Haskell, with burnished gold findings, tiny seed pearls and an artful use of crystals.

This brooch is described as, “Large poured glass handmade leaves with branches of Swarovski handmade wheat sheaf crystal in a beautiful bouquet design, large Baroque pearl sits at the base of five large Swarovski baguette crystals which forms a high dome from the base, subtle shades of jonquil and clear crystal with finer details of sea pearls & crystal pave marquis cut stones “truly spectacular construction and scale” measures approx. 170cm in length and approx. 90cm in width. on a weighted filigree base and large pin, plated in 24ct gold.”

This sells for £790.

Rhinestones – and lots of ’em! Yes, please. This lavish collar by BaubleBar is made with crystal set in base metal. And it’s a wallet friendly USD$72. Sparkle on!

Jewel of the day: Anne Bowen Jewelled Belt

You could argue that a belt, strictly speaking, is not jewellery, but this one is thickly encrusted with crystals and would really have to be the accessory high point of your outfit.

Plus … designer Anne Bowen got screwed over by Kanye West at New York fashion week. She was supposed to show her streetwear collection yesterday but West decided to show his second attempt at designing for Adidas. And booked a spot at the same time on the same day as Bowen’s original slot. It is costing her a lot to move her own presentation to today. So I felt like she needed some love.

You can buy this three-inch wide embellished on silk belt, as well as her fashion, on her web site. This sells for USD$850.

Jewel of the day: Catherine Canino Jagged Faceted Crystal Necklace

Two statement necklaces from NY-based Catherine Canino, both featuring chunky crystal stones on chain. She describes them as, “Jagged facetted crystal brilliant double row necklace with paper clip clasp and polished 14 karat gold over brass link 20” in blush (Left); smokey crystal briolette and emerald cut two row necklace with paper clip clasp and polished 14 karat gold over brass link 20” (Right).”

The lighter coloured stones make these lavish necklaces look a bit more understated and wearable, so you won’t need to wait for an occasion to pull one out. They each sell for USD$275.

Jewel of the day: Vita Fede Nail Ring

So apparently adorning the tips of your fingers is a thing now. Go know. I guess it makes no less sense than wearing a ring at the base of your finger. I mean, why not? It’s kind of like a little party hat for your finger tip.

So here we have a nail ring, meant to lie under the moon of the nail base, from Vita Fede. It’s gold plated and set with crystals, and will set you back USD $250 from Neiman Marcus.

Jewel of the day: Skagen Sofie Earrings

Skagen is probably better known for their watches. I wasn’t aware that they also produce a range of costume jewelry. These stainless steel earrings with a burnished rose gold finish are set with crystals and have more look to them than their USD $70 price would imply.  There are pieces that could be worn to match in their collection, which is worth checking out.
