Jewel of the day: Jacquie Aiche Ethiopian Opal Pyramid Baguette Hoop Earrings

Here is something a bit different in the way of a hoop earring from LA-based Jacquie Aiche. These hoop earrings are set with opals in a triangular shape (or as she terms them, pyramids). They are available in 14k yellow, white or rose gold. Though the site description says these are, “pave diamond double Ethiopian pyramid and square baguette hoops” I’m missing the diamonds and baguettes (which are generally rectangular and not square?) Despite the confusing description, they are pretty and a neat take on the classic hoop.

These sell for USD$3,815.

Jewel of the day: Jennifer Fisher XL Multi Hoops

While these would likely be the tinkly accessory that could drive cube mates crazy, I think these aptly named multi hoops would be fun to wear.

By Jennifer Fisher, they are available in silver plated or 14k gold tone plated metal. They have a drop of 5 inches, and are 2 inches wide and sell for USD$495. Jingle on!

Jewel of the day: Jade Trau Ara Hoop Earrings

Love the delicacy and sparkle of these earrings, though I would be petrified they would get pushed out of my ears by my hair. Which has happened. Hence my collection of tiny rubber stoppers that prevent this from happening.

These are from Jade Trau; they are 14k gold d with a front- facing ear wire set with a round-brilliant diamond. They hang approximately 2″ in front and 1″ behind the ear and are set with.19 ctw of diamonds. They sell for USD$1,350.

Jewel of the day: Jenny Packham Pave Crystal Hoop Earrings

Tis (almost) the season to be sparkly (or for some of us, sparklier) and these pave crystal earrings by Jenny Packham fill the bill quite nicely. They are actually quite small, more huggies than hoops, which makes them more wearable year-round.

Available from Nordstrom, they sell for USD$48. They are also available in a gold-tone setting with clear crystals.

Jewel of the day: Michele Quan Tiny Engraved Star Rivet Hoop

Hoop earrings may come in and out of fashion but they never really get old. These petite hoops by Michele Quan are “18K gold engraved star hoops bead set with 3 cabochon turquoise stones on each hoop. Ear wire and catch on back of hoops are 14K gold for strength. Hoop measures approximately 3/8″. Made in NYC.”

They sell for UDS$880.

Jewel of the day: Annoushka Opal Earring Drops

Annoushka was the founder of Links of London, so it’s no surprise that designs under her current eponymous label look similar. But that’s ok, because I have a real soft spot for her work. (As does Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, if you like celeb/royal tacit endorsements.)

Earrings are interchangeable, with hoops and drops meant to hang from variously designed posts. This pair holds 2.95ct blue opals surrounded by 0.52ct diamonds and set in black rhodium-plated 18ct white gold. They sell for £1,800, with the posts sold separately. They can be seen here.

Jewel of the day: Alice Cicolini Kimono Hoop Earrings

It’s wonderful when someone takes a fairly common form – in this case, the hoop earring – and creates them anew with a twist.

These Alice Cicolini  earrings have small balls with a Japanese motif. Her site notes, “23.5ct gold & vitreous enamel balls, 18ct gold hoops, polished white opal. The Kimono collection explores the Japanese tradition of containing pattern within circular forms. Handmade in India & London, these earrings are inspired by evenings spent under the carved pillars surrounding the courtyard at Anokhi Farm, the home of Faith & John Singh in Jaipur, where Alice has spent many evenings designing with the sound of peacocks calling to each other in the distance. The pattern that is hand carved on miniature scale comes from diverse sources – miniature painting from the Royal Jodhpur collection, antique kimonos and 17th century Syrian damasks.”

They sell for £3,600.

Jewel of the day: Roberto Coin Woven Rose Gold Hoop Earrings

A pair of gold earrings should be in every woman’s jewelry box. Hoops are classic, elegant and just plain wearable and the woven 18k rose gold in this pair by Roberto Coin gives them a little something special.

They are available from Ross-Simons for USD $780.

Jewel of the day: Borgioni Winding Snake Earrings

These large hoop earrings will definitely make a statement. Hoops can be, well, predictable, but these are anything but.

By Borgioni, and available from Fragments, they measure a very generous 2 inches in diameter. They are made of 18k rose gold inlaid with ebony, and set with brown diamonds and rubies.

They sell for USD $16,395.
