Jewel of the day: Annie Costello Brown Mini Rain Earrings

These sterling silver shoulder duster earrings (they are four inches long) by Annie Costello Brown pack quite the punch. Three strands of half circles give them an almost wind chime look, though if they tinkle like wind chimes, that would probably drive me a little bit crazy. But, as the saying goes, you have to suffer to be beautiful. No?

These sell for USD$295 at Net-A-Porter.

Jewel of the day: Katerina Makriyianni Trillion Ring

The fun thing about costume jewellery is that it can let you look like a million bucks without spending nearly that much. This ring by Katerina Makriyianni is a good case in point. Vendor Net-A-Porter notes, “Katerina Makriyianni’s standout pieces are inspired by Crete’s unique surroundings. This gold-plated silver ‘Trillion’ ring has an open band setting tipped with a faceted green agate doublet and ruby-red crystal. We like the three miniature green onyx stones that flicker with your every movement.”

This sells for USD$355.

Jewel of the day: Sarah & Sebastian Ring

Net-A-Porter adds the descriptor “tiny,” which is more than apt in this case. The site notes, “Sarah & Sebastian’s ‘Tiny’ ring is as dainty as its name suggests. Crafted entirely by hand in the label’s studio, this design is made from polished 14-karat gold and embellished with amethysts, sapphires and diamonds. The delicate band lends itself perfectly to layering and stacking.”

This sells for USD$975.

Jewel of the day: Anissa Kermiche Gold and Pearl Earring

Yep, earring, as in just one. So double up on the price if you want these as a pair. By Anissa Kermiche, these are powerfully plain. Net-A-Porter notes, “”My pieces are a celebration of womanhood,” says fine jeweler Anissa Kermiche, explaining, “the circle is the symbol of femininity, that’s why rounds keep coming back in my designs.” Suspended from a delicate chain, this earring has a beautiful 14-karat gold hoop with a lustrous pearl in the center. Wear it with your hair swept back.”

A single earring will set you back USD$600.

Jewel of the day: Andrea Fohrman Phases of the Moon Bracelet

The moon is an enduring symbol in jewellery and provides a lot of different representations, given its various phases. Here, Andrea Fohrman has captured them in a whimsical charm bracelet. Available at Net-A-Porter, the site notes, “Fine jeweler Andrea Fohrman draws inspiration from the “tree-carpeted canyons, sunlit redwood forests and the waters of the Pacific,” where she grew up. This handmade celestial bracelet is strung with 12 18-karat gold charms on a delicate 14-karat gold chain – each pendant represents a phase of the moon. The rainbow hued sapphire, emerald, tourmaline and amethyst stones were all hand-picked by the designer during her world travels.”

This sells for USD$10,400.

Jewel of the day: Carolina Bucci Recharmed 18-karat gold multi-stone necklace

Although its genesis is different, this is for me reminiscent of the Buddhist mala strand (beads that can be used/worn as a bracelet or a necklace and are an aid to meditation), this necklace by Carolina Bucci is pretty tactile. Net-A-Porter notes, “Carolina Bucci’s necklace is inspired by one-of-a-kind vintage charms found nestled in a drawer in her Florentine workshop. This handcrafted, limited edition piece is strung with smooth eagle eye and sunset stones – in complementary shades of peach, pink and gray – and punctuated with 3.40-carats of shimmering pink sapphires set in 18-karat gold links.

It sells for USD$1,320.

Jewel of the day: Rosantica Cancun Pompom Necklace

There is something about warm weather that lends itself to rather frivolous pieces like this one by Rosantica. It’s exclusive to online retailer Net-A-Porter, and they note (pick out the irony, folks): a celebration of the colors and culture of South America. Handcrafted in Italy from gold-tone brass, this delicate multi-strand design is strung with vibrant quartz beads and playful pompoms. Coordinate yours with the matching earrings.”

All those South American artisans must have been otherwise occupied since they outsourced to Italy.

It’s available for USD$505 an comes in a cute fabric pouch.

Jewel of the day: Alexander Wang Lock Bracelet

Alexander Wang didn’t stay too long as design director at Balenciaga and I don’t recall ever seeing any of his own accessories for that label. He seemed to pretty much push on with the designs they were already doing (at least in bags). But he never gave up his own collections so going back to his own name probably wasn’t much of a disruption. However, this represents part of his first jewellery line.

Here, a metal bracelet with a lock end, which is kind of cute. No key required; it slips on and off the wrist. This is available from Net-A-Porter, which explains, “Alexander Wang’s debut jewelry line takes inspiration from the industrial chain embellishments that define his Spring ’16 runway collection. Designed with a gold-plated padlock, this silver-tone bracelet is polished for a high shine. Wear yours with off-duty looks.”

This sells for USD$475.

This 18-karat gold ring has been handcrafted in London and features 0.93-carats of pavé diamonds that spell out ‘More Passion’ – a key slogan from the artist’s exhibitions.”

Jewel of the day: Chloe Darcey Ring

As the song might have gone, it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that bling … and it’s here in abundance in this Chloe ring featuring a raised ball pave set with Swarovski crystals. It’s set in gold-plated brass and available from Net-A-Porter for USD$450. Who says you need to wait for the holidays to sparkle?
